Warpath Universe: Marauders

The first game of Deadzone I ever played was with a band of Marauders. I love the style on the guerilla modern soldier type orcs. Mantic made a good choice moving away from their first version of marauders, they were completely like Games Workshop Space Orks. The Marauder Warlord is an example of this generation of Marauders.

There's four converted models in the strike team. A goblin, a sky scraper, a HMG gunner and a commando. Check out the WIPs in this blogpost.

You can see how I make my sci-fi bases here

I went with a brown base coat for all the models to achieve a desert / tan camouflage look. Added stripes of darker brown and dots of grey.

My GCPS will be grey with red spot colours. As the Marauders are mercenaries in the GCPS, I've given all the models som grey/red uniform or insignia to tie them into that story.

Leaders
A Commando Sergeant, a Marauder Warlord and a Marauder Captain. The Captain has two stripes and a triangle on his cap (troops have 1 stripe, specialists 2). The Warlord is the only model not to wear grey/red. I imagine the Warlord has gotten rid of all old sign of alliance with the human overlords. The captain is a cool model. My GCPS general and Plague general are also wearing black uniforms.

Commandos
The regular Joes of the list. Back when I got the starter, Mantic was missing some model versions and put in some exstras. The marauder with the combat shotgun is a conversion by me, it's from the Chief Mauhulakh / sky scraper kit.

Commando Specialists
The standard Commando Specialist can only chose between flamethrowers and HMGs. My HMG gunner is shooting with a gun from the Plague Stage 3a sprue, the conversion was fairly simple. Had to use some force and hot water to bend his arm into shape. Both Marauders and Plague have big claws, so it works well.

My specialist commandos have two stripes on their caps.

Chief Mauhulakh and Sky Scraper The guy above the smooke cloud is Mauhulakh, a leader/merc with a special army list. I wanted a regular sky scraper as well, so I build one from a standard commando. I used a hammerfist dropsuit jetpack from Forge Fathers, the extra head from the Mauhulakh set and a bit of greenstuff.

Ripper Suits
These models are freaking awesome! So brutal, big and over the top. My favourite of the two is the Rainmaker - the guy with all the guns. No conversion work done here, the models are cool as standard.

Goblin Snipers
There's two goblin sniper poses. One is kneeling and looking good, the other is jumping, throwing his gun around looking dumb. With a few tries of hot water and some well aimed violence I managed to chance the latter. Now he has a cool running pose instead. Made a head swap on the kneeling goblins, so they would be a bit different from each other.

Hulk and Maw Beasts
The Hulk is some kind of troll and a really nice model. It's simply, not many details and it's only two bits. But I really like the way this model looks. I alwasy try an imitate 'official' colours on skin. I'm vrey pleased with the result on the Hulk, nice blending.

The Maw Beasts are just comical models, but I like them.  Cybernetically enhanced steel mouth dogs with bombs on their backs.

Mercs
Boomer Grenadier - I think he's a goblin with a blown up face. And Chief Radgrad a merc in a ripper suit. He's not a leader, but I guess he has been sometime back in the day. He's still rocking a captains hat and a lot of stars on his shoulder.

Complete Strike Team
The entire Strike Team as of May 2017.
