I have long been putting off building the Asterians, as I really don't like the old restic models that much. But getting the Marionettes made me want to do the guys that I had. These models are also as close to the 'box' as they could be. Almost no conversion work done at all.
Bases are done as all my Deadzone bases. See tutorial here.
Leaders
The Overseer cam without his staff when I first got the strike team, a very thin restic piece. Would have been impossible for it to not break during games anyway. I drilled a small hole in his hand and added a needle pin instead. Nem'Rath is a leader from the Infestation expansion.
Troops - Cyphers
No conversion work done to these guys at all.
Specialists - Cyphers w. Fission Beamers
Troops - Kalyshi
When I first put these models together they looked so cool! But they are some of the worst models I have ever painted. They are really not good sculpts. Weird 'unsculpted' areas start to show up upon painting. Like the areas between the stringed areas and the arms. It was a chore to get these done.
Troops / Specialists - Marionettes
This on the other hand is some very cool models. A super nice kit to work with and lots of options. I've done a little converion on these guys. One guy is armed with a 'phlogitor' - a flamethrower. So I've added a fueltank and some fuel lines to the model, looks much better.
Specialists - Black Talons and Ten Ur'go
The black talons are nice models. Ten Ur'Go is from Warpath, not Deadzone. But since the Black Talons can choose to upgrade with a light blade, he'll have a place in the game just fine.
Specialist - Drones
I have a lot of drones somehow. Gotten from surprise boxes and odd trades. I've build one of each option. Fission Beamer, Plasma Vortex and Shield Generator.
There's three drones on the Marionette sprue. But there's only one 'make it fly' bit in the kit. I used 're-useable blue stuff' from Greenstuff World to make a mold, then copied the bit with greenstuff. Works well and guy me three complete drones. No rules for these in Deadzone however.
Complete Strike Team - May 2017
The complete Asterian Strike Team in May 2017. Have a very few options I would still like to add, for the sake of the complionist in me.
